Welcome to our very first lesson. Today, our Father Of All Artists, Mister Wu, will be taking over today’s class and teach you. Be sure to pay attention, kids, Mister Wu bites people ;D But actually, any pictures will do as long as they’re HQ. Feel free to replace the characters I used with your own OvO

1) So, first thing first, open your GIMP [if you haven’t had one, please download it first. Get the link from 'resources' section] and set the canvas size to 400x500 < this is my usual poster size. Drag all the ingredients /lol/ into the canvas and resize them to proportion. 2) Click the ‘eye’ icon to hide Suho’s picture. Let’s work on Kris’ first. To crop, I clicked on the Free Select Tool icon and began tracing the outlines of Kris’ body with it. For better view, click on Zoom Tool icon. When done, click ‘EDIT > CUT’. His whole body will be gone from the background. And then click ‘EDIT > PASTE AS > NEW LAYER’. Right click on the unwanted layer and then click ‘DELETE LAYER’. Repeat the same step for Suho’s picture. The steps were right like what you can see in these pictures below.
If this weren't clear enough for you, maybe CLICKING HERE would help you :D
3) We’re going to add a little filters now. Kind of like PSDs, but yeah, we don’t have PSDs for GIMP, so we’ll have to do it manually. Now, go to ‘COLOR > CURVES’. You’ll have to use your own creativity for this and play with the curves. Experiment a little. To sharpen the images, go to ‘FILTER > ENCHANCE > SHARPEN’ For me, this is what I got. 4) Before we proceed, you have to know that this step is optional. You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. Just skip to the next step. Now, create a new layer by clicking ‘LAYER > NEW LAYER’. Click on Gradient Tool, Set the foreground color to red [#ff2e2e] and background color to orange [#ffa516]. Just stroke the canvas randomly and you’ll get a layer filled with two colors. Set the opacity of that layer to 50, then, click ‘MODE > OVERLAY’. To make it more dramatic, merge all the layers together, then duplicate, and then click ‘FILTER > ARTISTIC > CARTOON’. After that ‘FILTERS > DISTORTS > WIND’. And then set the new layer to ‘MODE > OVERLAY’. This is the result I get. 5) Final step, put the texts into your poster. For this, I choose to use very simple effects. Simply use white color for the texts, and then duplicate the texts and click ‘COLOR > INVERT’. Then, click ‘FILTERS > BLUR > GAUSSIAN BLUR’. To put borders around the poster, simply click ‘FILTERS > DÉCOR > ADD BORDER’. 6) Last but not least, ‘CTRL + S’ or ‘CTRL + E’ to save it~! TADAHHHHH YOU’RE DONE! Don’t forget to name the file as .PNG/.JPG ^___^ |
